The state did not order the blocking of disinformation websites, CZ.NIC and operators acted voluntarily, the court ruled
The state’s action in blocking disinformation websites was not illegal, the Municipal Court in Prague has ruled. The lawsuit against the Defence Ministry was filed jointly by the Institute H21 and Otevřená společnost last June. Following the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine before the end of last February, the CZ.NIC association temporarily blocked eight disinformation websites at the domain level. Mobile operators also joined in. The entities acted on the recommendation of the Czech government and security forces, they said at the time.
