According to the latest polls and models, the Smer and Progressive Slovakia parties should have had balanced results. All agencies showed a close contest, but in the end Robert Fico’s party was separated from the Progressives by a significant five percent. A brief explanation? Some Smer voters are ashamed of their choice and do not want to admit it. This is often linked to a deep-seated distrust that many Slovak politicians continue to deepen among their supporters.
