Slovakia is the second worst country in the European Union in terms of trust in the police. This is according to an analysis by the Value for Money Unit. All important texts from the largest Slovak editorial office will arrive automatically in your email every day. Slovakia has fewer police officers than in previous years, but their number per capita is comparable to neighbouring Czech Republic and slightly higher than in Hungary or Poland. That’s according to an analysis by the Value for Money Unit (VVU). Based on figures from March, the analysts say there are about 20,500 police officers in Slovakia, a six per cent drop from 2019, when the latest review of interior ministry spending was being prepared.
