Czech gave the world the word robot, do you know other bohemisms in foreign languages?
The Czech language not only accepts words, but also gives them to other languages. Apart from the well-known robot of the Čapek brothers, for example, there are words like pistol or pie, but also more difficult terms like flu or even hamster. Hacked Czech. Over the long centuries, Czech has adopted words from all kinds of world languages, but some of them have made their way from our language into foreign ones. For example, the whole world uses the term robot for artificial workers, which first appeared in Karel Čapek’s play R.U.R. But the word was coined by his brother Josef, because Karel didn’t know what to do with the name.
