The state has set up data boxes for people who don’t know how to use them or don’t want them, 450,000 people ignore them

There are 450,000 ticking time bombs in the Czech Republic. Data cards can hide executions and fines

It has been thirteen months since the mandatory introduction of data boxes for all businesses. At the same time, the Digital and Information Agency (DIA), which sets them up, announced that almost half a million mailboxes have still not been signed up. According to experts, this can have major consequences for business owners, while the “dead” mailboxes bring more administration to the authorities. Aleš V. worked for many years as a craftsman, but after turning 30 he decided to change, took a retraining course and got a job as an IT technician. However, he did not cancel his trade, but only interrupted it, so the state set up a data box for him last year. “I preferred to cancel my trade quickly, I wouldn’t go to the business data box, I didn’t even activate it,” says Aleš.

Note: Data Box is secure electronic communication system used in the Czechia, primarily for exchanging official documents between individuals, businesses, and government authorities.
