Flood manager Igor Nemec starts as secretary to the director of Czech Television

Prague’s ex-prime minister will head the office of the new head of Czech Television

So far, he has gained experience as a minister, MP, mayor of Prague and chess player. Now Igor Němec has become head of the secretariat of the new director of Czech Television. The new director general of Czech Television Jan Souček is building his team. An experienced man with a rich political past is joining his office. The head of Souček’s secretariat will be Igor Nemec, an ex-minister, former ODS deputy and former mayor of Prague, who headed the metropolis in the crisis year of 2002. “I would say that Prague is not in danger. The situation is, I would say, extremely excellent.”

Thousand-year water

Thirteen deaths, damage to property, infrastructure, flora and fauna is estimated in billions of crowns. After a devastating week-long wave, water is receding in northern Bohemia. The lake that formed at the confluence of the Elbe and Ohře rivers in the Litoměřice region is shrinking. The Neratovice Spolana has started processing the leaked chlorine into harmless hypochlorite. The levels of South Bohemian rivers have fallen and the level of the flood lake near Novosedel in the Breclav region is decreasing. In Prague, the Vltava River and visibly dropping since Wednesday. However, the residents of Karlín will have to wait for some time before returning to their homes – the third Karlín apartment building collapsed and the Prague City Hall has sealed off some areas of Karlín and Holešovice for safety reasons.
