Czech healthcare is underfunded, we can increase its efficiency by incorporating new technologies
Innovation in healthcare, supported by information and communication technologies, helps both doctors and patients. Healthcare is one of the largest sectors of the economy. OECD countries spend on average around nine per cent of GDP on healthcare, the United States even around 17 per cent, while in the Czech Republic it is only 7.5 per cent. Our healthcare system, which is predominantly financed by public insurance and public budgets, is underinvested. At the same time, the fiscal situation does not give hope that these resources can be used to substantially increase investment in improving quality.
