Indictment of elite Czech soldiers: They punched a prisoner in the face, blackmailed him, and then left him bleeding for 75 minutes
The treatment of an Afghan prisoner by four Czech special forces members may have contributed to the breakdown of their unit. In the eyes of Afghans, they also damaged the authority of Western civilization. This is one of the ways the state prosecutor describes the soldiers’ misconduct in the indictment obtained by iROZHLAS.cz. The indictment also indicates that if the soldiers had confessed, the prosecutor would have proposed a suspended sentence. The trial was prevented by President Petr Pavel, who granted the special forces soldiers a pardon.
