Jan Nepomuk Berwid-Buquoy collects furniture of historical personalities, he has a sofa of Reinhard Heydrich

“The monthly electricity bill is already beyond our means.” The Buquoyas are selling the Měšice castle

Political scientist, publicist and aristocratic descendant Jan Nepomuk Berwid-Buquoy managed the castle with his wife Bärbel Berwid-Buquoy since the 1990s. The property, which had been used by the communists as a warehouse for agricultural equipment, was renovated and opened to the public. The chateau attracted visitors with exhibitions and furnishings of famous personalities. The collection of the castle master included, for example, Reinhard Heydrich’s dining table and sofa as well as the Art Nouveau beds from 1901 of Jan Masaryk.
