Anxiety drove her to attempt suicide. Then Veronika Kamenska invented an app that helps thousands of people a day
The mobile app “Don’t Panic” offers advice on what to do when anxiety strikes, as well as important contacts for quick help. In the background is the author of the app, Veronika Kamenská. When teenagers are gripped by panic or anxiety, there is usually no psychologist immediately at hand, but a mobile phone is. That’s what Veronika Kamenská is betting on. Her app, “Don’t Panic!”, is recommended by the National Institute of Mental Health, crisis lines and psychiatrists to help manage mental discomfort. After her father suffered a severe heart attack, Kamenska developed post-traumatic stress disorder, which started a series of problems. She didn’t want to burden her parents with them because she knew they were dealing mainly with her father’s health.
