Profitable loan business of the head of IKEM: People were paying 136,000 a day in interest
In addition to running the state hospital, Michal Stiborek also ran a business with loans at exorbitant interest rates. Tens of millions were lent to him by a debt collector convicted of violence. Stiborek made the loans through another man who is now in prison. The Institute of Clinical and Experimental Medicine (IKEM) is the most prestigious hospital in the Czech Republic, saving the lives of people from all over the Czech Republic with highly specialised care. The post of director was recently defended by Michal Stiborek, who is responsible for running the billion-dollar colossus.
