More than seven thousand car owners sued Volkswagen and Škoda Auto in the court in Mladá Boleslav. The judge dismissed them on the grounds that the lawsuit as filed was not known to Czech law. After five years of waiting, the court ruled for the first time on a lawsuit by Czech car owners seeking compensation in the well-known Dieselgate affair. More than seven thousand people sued Volkswagen and Skoda Auto for having fraudulent software installed in their cars to artificially reduce emissions.
