The inappropriate behaviour of officers towards homeless people was described by an anthropology student in his bachelor thesis. The Pilsen City Police filed a criminal complaint against him. Jan Bauer, a student of anthropology and a police officer, described in his bachelor’s thesis how Pilsen police officers bully homeless people. He is now facing criminal charges from the Pilsen City Police, where he works. However, members of the anthropology department at the University of West Bohemia are standing behind the author of the thesis and have written an open letter in his support. Experts say violence against homeless people by police officers is common practice.
