Hundreds of thousands of graves of displaced Germans are decaying in the border area. The state is preparing a subsidy for their preservation
The hundreds of thousands of abandoned German graves in the Czech borderlands could be cared for again after a long time. Most of them have been decaying for decades, since the removal of the Germans after the Second World War. Now, thanks to a multi-million subsidy from the Ministry of Regional Development, that could change. If the government approves it, municipalities and associations could apply for funding from next year to preserve the graves of important local people of German origin.
