Bebjak: We wanted to be Switzerland in the middle of Europe, but we ended up like the Balkans
The 1st Department Cases series returns to Czech television in early September. The new series will reveal the case of the murderer of Prague taxi drivers and the story of a man who used a methanol scandal to get rid of his wife. In an interview, director Peter Bebjak, who already made this year’s hit The Nineties, describes how the underworld in Slovakia has changed since the 1990s, how a man becomes a criminal and how crime fiction resembles a fairy tale.
