The Czech Telecommunications Office spends millions on external lawyers. It has dozens of its own
In mid-May, the Czech Telecommunications Office (CTU), headed by Hana Továrková, announced a contract for external legal services worth a total of €500 thousand. The subject of the contract is the usual legal agenda, including “analysis of legislation”, “comprehensive legal advice” and “comprehensive representation before courts”. The Authority has approximately seventy in-house lawyers dedicated to these activities, including legislators and lawyers representing the Authority in court. Moreover, the Office has spent more than €875 thousand on external legal, advisory and consultancy services since the beginning of 2021 alone.
