Czechia already has a law to protect whistleblowers, but will not avoid a million-dollar fine from the European Union
The case of the first ever EU fine for the Czech Republic for delays due to the directive is moving to the next stage. The Ministry of Justice has officially notified the European Commission that it has already adopted laws to protect whistleblowers. The department confirmed to Radiožurnala that it did so as soon as the regulations were published in the Collection of Laws. The date of 20 June is likely to be decisive for the final amount of the fine, which the Czech Republic will no longer be able to avoid.
