Czech priest detained in Vatican with gun, knives and screwdriver
Police arrested a Czech priest at the Vatican over the weekend for carrying an air pistol, two knives and a screwdriver in his bag. According to ANSA, the parish priest defended himself by saying that the weapons were for personal defence. Police have also begun prosecuting the cleric for illegally arming another man from the Czech Republic, who appears to be the actual owner of the luggage. According to the Italian press, he is a priest from Velke Losiny. A representative of the Olomouc Archbishopric confirmed that the priest is on pilgrimage to the Vatican, but representatives of the diocese have not yet been able to contact him.
