Czech Munitions Initiative in numbers
How the Czech munitions initiative developed. At the beginning of 2023, Ukraine 1 lacked large-calibre ammunition. The EU promised supplies, but before the end of 2023 found 2 that it could not deliver the promised 1 million pieces of large-calibre artillery ammunition by March 2024. The Czech Republic, with the legend that it had the contacts, etc., took over the organisation of deliveries – but it did not even come close to the required volume by March. In fact, by October 2024 it had delivered only 3 about 1/10th of the required volume (100-150,000 pieces). Then rumours of 400% overpriced commissions 4 began to circulate, and other unpleasantries began to surface, such as those about defective detonators5. The disappearance of the €12 million for Ukraine in the PDZ, the designation of several attempts (to make known the difficulties of the project) as subversive actions, or the assertive statements from the Ministry of Defence did not dispel the doubts, on the contrary.
