Czech management of Delvita, bad meat, destruction of cultural monuments, kidnapping or torture in Rudna

Delvita ends after fifteen years in the Czech Republic

Those who are used to shopping at Delvita supermarket will soon have to switch to the competition. Delhaize is leaving the Czech market and offering its stores for sale. After fifteen years, it wants to concentrate on investments in other countries where it will do better economically. “The decision to leave the Czech Republic was difficult. But we believe that Delvita’s merger with another Czech retailer will help them be more competitive in the market,” said Delhaize CEO Olivier Beckers. Ahold, which owns the Albert and Hypernova chains in the Czech Republic, could be interested in buying Delvita. The merger of Delvita and Ahold was speculated in September, but the companies have not confirmed it. Tesco could be another interested party. However, like Ahold, it has not yet provided specific information.
