Unresolved problem. Over a million Czechs are addicted to legal drugs
In the Czech Republic, there is a dangerous increase in the number of people addicted to drugs that affect the psyche. These are most often legal, easily available drugs for pain, insomnia, anxiety or depression. The state is monitoring the situation, but not addressing it. The latest report of the National Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Addictions shows that. The problem is also highlighted by the anti-drug campaign “Shortcuts”, which is backed by the Czech Association of Insurance Companies and the police. While before the covid experts estimated that about 900,000 people were addicted to drugs, now as many as 1.2 million are.
