Laptop sellers confuse lifetime and warranty, which cannot be less than 2 years
The warranty period for consumer goods is legally set at a minimum of 2 years. However, in the case of laptop batteries, sellers or manufacturers usually state a warranty shorter than this period. According to experts, there is confusion between the lifetime and the warranty. While the warranty period is determined by legislation, the length of the lifetime depends on the level of use of the goods. In everyday use, a battery lasts only one year and therefore does not reach the legal warranty period. Therefore, the loss of capacity is not covered by the claims procedure.
