The Czech element in Deutschböhmen, the way to deal with the Germans was discussed long before 1945

The Czech element in Deutschböhmen

The Czech industry is on a steady progress. Serious reasons compel us, however, not to go into details. The Czechs number 4,241,925, the Germans 2,450,841, who make up 36.73% of the population of the whole kingdom, if the result of the official census according to the vernacular is accepted as true. We all know, however, that this figure is not true; rather, the private census, which gives the number of Czechs as 99,392 greater, and therefore the number of Germans as 99,392 less, is closer to the truth, though not yet completely true, so that the number of Germans would then be 2,361,449, or 35.39%. There are 4,048,256 Czechs in the Bohemian region, and 65,095 Germans beside them. Thus the Germans are only 1.6% of the population of the Bohemian region. However, because the Germans are settled mostly in the capital city of Prague, which is explainable given its importance and central position, and also in Pilsen, the black-coal basin of Kladno and the iron-mining villages of Berounsko, in which parts of the country they number 44,179, this leaves only 20,916 Germans for the whole of the wide Bohemian region, which proves its purity beyond doubt. It remains to prove that the part of Bohemia to which the Germans lay claim is not purely German.
