The army burned the calendars because of the peace symbol. Absurd, says their author
The annual calendar of the Dukla Sports Centre is an expected and valued collector’s item. For the year 2024, 3,500 of them have been created. But many people don’t keep them. The army had them burned for their anti-war symbolism. The author of the photographs thinks that’s completely absurd. “Originally it was meant as a thank you to the army that we can play sports in peace. We realised only too late that in these tense times it was unfair to the army, and it eventually backfired on us because we didn’t realise that soldiers fighting in the field see it differently from athletes
