The American Smithsonian Institute has a collection of human brains. It was collected by Czech anthropologist Aleš Hrdlička. The collection was intended to prove the superiority of the white race. “There are significant differences between the brains of blacks and Europeans, which are generally to the disadvantage of blacks,” wrote Czech anthropologist Aleš Hrdlička in a letter to one of his colleagues. “The brains of individual blacks may reach or approach the level of some whites, but such primitive brains as are found in some blacks … would be hard to find in normal whites.”
