The new chief prosecutor will be Igor Stříž, a former communist military prosecutor
The Government approved the appointment of Igor Stříž as the Supreme State Prosecutor at its meeting on Monday. He has been running the office as first deputy since 1 July, after Pavel Zeman left office. He will officially take office on Tuesday. Stříž was proposed to the government for appointment by Justice Minister Marie Benešová (ANO). Stříž has a controversial past, having served as a feared military prosecutor under the communist regime.
