Roughly one-third of people who experience domestic violence as adults experienced it as children, according to research by Sociofactor. According to psychologist Ludmila Čírtková, the main problem is that those who grow up in a situation of domestic violence consider such a situation to be the norm because they know nothing else. “It can be difficult for victims to realise that what is happening to them crosses boundaries,” she says.
