Are the police spying on drivers? Photos of those who have not committed any crime remain in its database for a year
Central automatic vehicle inspections scan all passing cars. There are hundreds of them all over the country, dozens in Prague and Brno alone. When a small, inconspicuous light flashes in the driver’s line of sight, for example after passing a junction or a speed detector, it can make them feel uncomfortable. He asks himself whether he has broken the rules while driving. After all, he’s just been caught on a police camera. Even though he may not be sure, he may not have committed any offence, but the system has stored his image in the police database for a year.
