One million people in the Czech Republic have a problem with alcohol. Only a bare minimum of them plan to limit it
According to doctors, the high consumption of alcohol in the Czech Republic contributes to a higher incidence and increase in disease. According to cardiologists, one of them is so-called alcoholic cardiomyopathy, which leads to heart failure. Heart disease has long been the leading cause of death. The director of the National Heart Institute, Barbora Macková, said this week that six per cent of deaths each year are linked to alcohol. According to a survey by the State Health Institute (SZU), doctors have asked half of people about their drinking in the past two years, while a tenth have been advised by their doctor to cut back.
