For driving on amber lights €180 and six points. How the fines have gotten tougher since January
In January alone, police collected more than CZK 49.3 million for drivers’ offences on the roads, more than twice as much as in January last year, when officers handed out fines worth CZK 22.1 million. In doing so, it fined roughly the same number of drivers. Fines have therefore become significantly more expensive. Czech drivers either haven’t noticed yet or don’t care. Even higher rates and more “penalty” points have not made them obey the rules more.
