Welcome to the third world. In Indonesia, trains run twice as fast as in the Czechia
Last autumn, Indonesia launched the first high-speed railway in Southeast Asia. The train running between Jakarta and Bandung can travel at more than twice the speed of the Pendolino on Czech railways. Indonesia has chosen the name WHOOSH for its high-speed train, short for Waktu Hemat, Operasi Optimal, Sistem Hebat (Time Saving, Optimal and Reliable System). The inspiration came from the sound made by the speeding train, but as a passenger I feel like I’m in a perfectly sealed laboratory with images of the outside landscape projected to visitors.
