Diabetes only for the rich. Drug surcharges for diabetics have risen up to ten times
Diabetics have had their drug co-payments increased since February. While they used to pay a hundred crowns for a box, today it is often more than two thousand crowns. The controversial decision of the State Institute for Drug Control is to blame. Diabetes patients are facing a huge problem: their drug surcharges have skyrocketed. For example, the increase concerns the drug Trajenta, for which people will pay as much as CZK 948.89 instead of the original CZK 95.56. Similarly, patients prescribed the drug Januvia, for which the surcharge jumped from CZK 500.84 to CZK 2,569.71.
